Update No 1 on Developments in Fiji and USP

Dear all:

We have just concluded a meeting of the Senior Management Team that reviewed the current situation in Fiji and the University.

I informed the SMT that I had sent an email to all Governments and members of Council yesterday updating them on what had transpired in Fiji. I had also spoken with the Pro Chancellor and Deputy Chair of Council.

In the view of the SMT, the situation in Fiji is calm. The University is calm and operational. There is no risk to students or staff at this stage. As a precaution, however, we have increased security at the University.

The University will operate normally. We will carefully monitor the situation and advise you all as needed.
