The Centre for Educational Development and Technology hosted a timely workshop for academic staff on designing effective assessment strategies. The workshop which was held in Media Centre’s Language Lab had 23 participants.
The workshop in brief looked at strategies that could be used by academics to improve the way they assessed students, evaluating the learning that takes place in courses and tips for avoiding plagiarism. Strategies incorporated into the workshop were based on educational design concepts such as constructive alignment, formative/summative assessment, authentic assessment, higher level learning, marking criteria and rubrics
CEDT is likely to hold more workshops of this nature in the future.
