Team meets to revamp Success@USP
Success@USP is going through a considerable makeover with some innovative changes to the learning and facilitating packages. For almost a week, from 15th to 19th June at the USP Laucala Campus the working group deliberated over the amendments, conducted meetings and finalised decisions on the delivery of Success@USP for next year.
The 2010 version will see a more modern and fresh look to the design and delivery of Success@USP. One of the modules - the Information Literacy Programme (ILP) - will be put online and run by the Library. The team is looking at the use of “Moodle-on-a-stick”, which is a convenient way for students to view Moodle course pages offline by using a USB (or memory stick); particularly useful for regional students that have difficulty accessing the Internet.
The programme will also be mainstreamed for students at the Laucala Campus. In its current form the Success@USP package is designed for regional DFL students and is administered and delivered predominantly by the regional campuses.
In keeping track of the progress of DFL (and face-to-face) students that have completed the Success@USP programme in the region, a database is being set up on BANNER, USP’s student management system.
Success@USP has gained the full support of the Vice Chancellor, and will become an integral part of the USP calendar for first year students to help them embark on, navigate and enjoy their learning journey and ultimately succeed as USP graduates.
