EDULINK SideCAP Project update: Repurposed resource goes live
After a year into the 32 month EDULINK-SideCAP Project, the repurposed Open Educational Resource (OER) is now live and ready for use. The USP representatives on the project, Louise Vakamocea and Alanieta Lesuma-Fatiaki of CFDL have been working on the OER since November 2008. The resource can be accessed from: www.usp.ac.fj/studyskills
The repurposed OER is borne out of a resource titled ‘Essay Writing with Readings’ that was developed by three New Zealand tertiary institutions. The repurposed module is enshrined with content and images that are relevant and familiar to the USP learning and teaching community.
The module is currently in its pilot phase with LLF11 and HY205 students being our test users during this period. This pilot phase will also end with the last day of Semester 2, 2009. The module also includes a feedback sheet and it is vital that this is captured in order for the team to be able to make the necessary improvements.
The completion of this repurposing task fulfils the specific objective of the project which is “to repurpose existing Open Content teaching material and adapt it to local contexts using appropriate technologies”.
Next year USP will be hosting the final dissemination event for this project from 8 to 12 February 2010.
