CFDL, ITS and SAS team up for the USP Open Day

CFDL again teamed up with ITS and SAS for their 2009 USP Open Day showcase. The team's combined displays staged at the University Gym highlighted the use of technology to deliver USP study programmes and achieving successful learning experiences.
The relevance of the displays to the theme was clearly articulated and very well demonstrated by the different uses of multimedia elements and interactivity that encouraged student groups to participate in the various booth activities. The progress that USP has made in the area of education driving technology and the potential for future growth was also reflected in the Open Day displays.
The theme for this year's Open Day, "Leading a quality region: Success@USP" was exemplified in showcasing the core functions of all three sections and how they enhanced the USP student’s learning experience. The displays and presentations ranged from the technology of the past to the cutting edge technologies of the present day and the future.
In addition there was regional presence in the display booths with live feeds from the regional campuses and the showcasing of conferencing services available at USP. There were also displays from the EDULINK SideCAP team and the Success@USP regional campus orientation programme.
The students visiting the booths were very receptive to ‘hands on’ activities and also showed a very healthy interest in the various displays. Secondary schools and visitors who visited the Gym were suitably impressed with the showcase and engaged readily, for example, in having their singing recorded in take-away CDs.
The team's display were declared outright winners in the Student Learning Support section at the 2009 USP Open Day and it is now looking forward to next year and planning to put on a bigger and better show.
