The 2010 series of CFDL Moodle workshops got underway with the Introduction to Moodle workshop on April 14th at the Laucala Campus.

The increasing student engagement through online learning workshop was conducted on May 12th. This workshop focused on how to best use Moodle’s communication and collaboration tools to enhance the learning experiences of students. On the June 8th, the managing and monitoring learning achievement workshop took place which looked into the Moodle tools that could support the administrative aspects of an online course such as grade book, feedback and reports.

The designing effective assessment strategies workshop was held on June 10th. This workshop considered how lecturers could use the Moodle tools for assessment purposes; it also focused on the educational aspects of assessment such as constructive alignment, formative and summative assessment, authentic assessment, higher level learning, marking criteria and weighting.

Due to a high demand from the regional campuses, for the very first time this year CFDL staff utilized REACT (Remote Education And Conferencing Tool), an audio-video conferencing application to conduct “face to face” Moodle workshops. Despite its challenges, the overall experience was very rewarding and a great learning experience for regional campus staff members.
