Ms. Cherie Morris Cherie Morris holds a BSc in Biology and an MSc in Marine Studies from the University of the South Pacific, Fiji. She has experience in both the Freshwater and Marine fields with particular interest in aquaculture.
Cherie has worked with several local and international NGOs in project areas such as women in fisheries, aquaculture, marine conservation, marine aquarium trade certification, coral reef ecology and has carried out environment impact assessments.
Countries where Cherie has worked in include Fiji, Tonga, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Cook Islands, Palau, Nauru and Kiribati. Cherie is registered with Fiji's Department of Environment as an Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) Consultant in the following categories: Subject Specialist (marine flora and fauna, fisheries and aquaculture); Assistant Consultant (marine flora and fauna, fisheries and aquaculture).
From 2006, Ms Morris- Whippy has coordinated projects such as: South-West Pacific node of the Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network, funded by CRISP, focusing on collecting coral reef monitoring data from 7 countries in the region and coordinating training of the Country Coordinators; ReefBase Pacific Project, in partnership with WFC and funded by AFD and the UNF, focusing on data collection for the various components of the online database.
