SGDIA's postgraduate degrees in Diplomacy and International Affairs are designed especially for professionals working in the international or regional arena, such as foreign affairs officers, diplomats, military officers moving into policy positions, and locally-engaged staff working in regional institutions, United Nations agencies and foreign embassies.

This Program provides students with deeper knowledge about how the Pacific region is impacted by global affairs and how foreign policy is made. Courses concentrate on contemporary issues, such as the changing roles of major regional powers in the Pacific, the role of regional institutions such as ASEAN and the Pacific Islands Forum, the rise of China and other emerging economies, and transnational challenges like climate change, terrorism and human rights.

Studies in Diplomacy address the theory and practice of diplomatic relations among Pacific island countries and introduce students to diplomatic skills through practical workshops on diplomatic negotiation and writing.

This program offers Certificate, Diploma and MA degrees. Students may also complete a MA in International Affairs-Research (MAIAR) through a combination of courses and an original Supervised Research Paper (30,000 words) or by completing a full Masters research thesis (50,000 words). Students interested in the MAIAR degree should consult with the Coordinator of Postgraduate Studies (see top) before applying.
