Pacific Academic Excellence Awards

To all students of the 12 member states of the University of the South Pacific (USP) 

In our commitment to promoting and rewarding merit-based academic excellence from the region, opportunities for study and scholarships at USP will be made available to students from the 12 member states namely; Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshalls Islands, Nauru, Niue, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.

The 14 awards are in two categories. The first relates to one (1) undergraduate award that will each be given to the 12 member states giving this a total of 12 awards to the student with the highest scores in either the Form 7 exams or a Senate recognised national equivalence at this level. The second category will be drawn from the two students with the highest scores in Foundation Studies ( one each from Science and Social Science) from across the region.

The following details pertain to the specifics of the Pacific Academic Excellence Award.

PAE Award for Undergraduate Studies 

Scope: Total funding for a bachelorís degree to participate in and pursuit of any of the undergraduate programmes at USP.

Type of Study:  Bachelors (up to 3 years fulltime study).

Eligibility: Applicants or awardees must be citizens or permanent residents of the member states of the University of the South Pacific (as listed above).
Provisions: Substantial funding toward education expenses, including general service and health fees, living allowance, book allowance, return economy airfare for non-Fiji awardees for each of the three years leading up to a bachelorís degree.

Selection Process: The University, through Student Administrative Services at Laucala Campus will liaise with the national education offices and will be awarding one scholarship to each of the candidates from the 12 university member states. 

The student with the highest score from each country who are being selected for the PAE Awards will be contacted by the respective national education office. 

The top two students with the highest scores in Foundation Studies from across the university region will be contacted by SAS in consultation with the PTAFE's College of Foundation Studies.

How to Apply: Student are not required to apply but selection will be Administered by the Student Administrative Services Laucala campus
