UU114 is a university course that you need to successfully complete in your first year. Writing formal essays is a major feature of your life at university; therefore, this course is designed to upgrade your skills of writing, speaking, listening, reading, researching and critical thinking.
We have designed a 15 step process which will help you plan and write well-structured essays. You will learn to show your understanding of the topic and demonstrate that you can search for relevant and appropriate information to support your ideas. We will teach you how to make judgments about the value of what you are reading by being able to separate main points and distinguish fact from opinion for academic reading purposes. You will learn how to confidently present oral seminars and also to present researched information in the form of a report together with being able to critically evaluate the validity and accuracy of a text.
UU114 is offered in both semesters in print and face-to-face modes. Flexi schools are also offered in December and January at most campuses.
Although UU114 is a compulsory course, we hope that our journey together will be both fun and rewarding.
