Graduate Certificate in Education (BA/BSc)

Admission Requirements

Persons are eligible to be admitted to study for the Bachelor of Arts and Graduate Certificate in Education combined programme if they have:

  1. provided a character reference from the head or a senior teacher of their last high school, and
  2. admission with standing; or
  3. passed a Senate-recognised Form 7 examination or equivalent
  4. completed the requirements for a USP Foundation Science Programme, and have passed LLF11, and have an average of C in the following pairs of courses (subjects):

Programme Requirements

This four-year combined pre-service program is designed to prepare specialist graduates teachers for teaching in secondary schools throughout the South Pacific region.

It normally consists of 27 courses, including:

  1. two (2) 100-level compulsory courses;
  2. eight (8) courses in an education major (two (2) 100-level, three (3) 200-level and three (3) 300-level;
  3. eight (8) courses in the first discipline major;
  4. eight (8) courses in the second discipline major; and
  5. ED300 Practicum.
