The Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Teaching (GCTT) is a part-time programme which explores various approaches to teaching, learning, assessment, evaluation, curriculum planning and development in higher education over two semesters. As a forum for collaborative work, the GCTT will create learning opportunities for group members to share experiences arising from teaching and research throughout the duration of the programme, and course participants will be encouraged to reflect on practice as part of their continuing professional development. It is offered by distance and flexible learning, as well as on-campus at Laucala Campus.
Admission Requirements
Persons are eligible to be admitted to study for the Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Teaching if they:
- hold a university degree or equivalent, and
- are currently engaged in a minimum of two hours tertiary teaching per week.
Note: USP staff will be given first preference for places available in this programme.
Courses
Consists of two courses.
- ED401 (Teaching & Learning In Higher Education) - This course will provide learning opportunities for group members to share experiences arising from teaching and research throughout the duration of the course and to encourage participants to reflect on practice as part of their continuing professional development.
- ED402 (Curriculum Design and Evaluation in Higher Education) - This course will explore a range of underlying themes shaping curriculum development and evaluation in higher education. The course provides further learning opportunities for group members to share experiences arising from teaching, research and reflection in relation to curriculum design and evaluation.
