USP academic honored with prestigious award
An academic from the University of the South Pacific has recently received recognition for his outstanding thesis on ‘Enhancing IT Business Value: Sustaining Organisational Capabilities with Co-Created Dynamic Resources.’
Dr Acklesh Prasad, a Lecturer with the School of Accounting and Finance at USP is a recipient of the prestigious Dean’s Award for Outstanding Research Higher Degree Theses in 2010 from the University of Queensland (UQ), Australia.
The award, which takes into consideration the international recognition of the graduate’s research work, the impact of the research, and publications or other outputs, is awarded to less than ten percent of PhD and MPhil graduates annually.
Dr Prasad says that he was surprised to receive such a prestigious award because of the truly international nature of the PhD programme at UQ.
“The UQ boasts a dynamic research community that attracts higher degree research students from around the world,” he added.
Dr Prasad said that he endeavoured to complete a quality and relevant research under the guidance of his supervisory team and added that he received positive and encouraging feedback from earlier presentations of his research to the international community.
In expressing his delight, Dr Prasad highlighted that, “this award demonstrates that our community is capable of undertaking quality research that has global implications.”
He added that the award has motivated him to continue to engage in cutting-edge research that has immediate implications on the practice.
The Dean of the UQ Graduate School, Professor Zlatko Skrbis said that Dr Prasad’s thesis was among the small number that received examiners’ reports attesting to the outstanding quality and exceptionally innovative nature of the research.
In congratulating Dr Prasad for his achievement, Professor Skrbis said that, “we hope that you will continue to benefit from your time spent at UQ.”
He thanked Dr Prasad for contributing to the research profile of the University.
The Dean of Faculty of Business and Economics at USP, Professor Biman Prasad congratulated Dr Prasad for his excellent achievement. Professor Prasad said he is looking forward to Dr Prasad’s excellent contribution to research in the school and in the faculty.
