School of Education Management

The highest administrative body in SOE is the School Board of Studies. Since SOE is a large School and provides a wide variety of pre-service and in-service teacher education programs and services to its students and other members of the stakeholder community, it has an organizational framework that facilitates sharing of leadership responsibilities in order to provide effective and efficient management and development. In particular, this framework enables substantial devolution of academic, leadership and management responsibilities to committees, recently introduced program pillars/divisions and individuals with unique potential. It is important to stress, however, that the major focus of the SOE is to prepare teachers and teacher educators as well as to provide on-going professional development programs. All its courses and programs are related and the lecturers are specialized in several curricula areas. Therefore, it is difficult to articulate clear discipline-based pillars/divisions and place lecturers in them. Despite this, the qualifications, experience, research, consultancy and community engagement are commensurate with the pillars. These are now being developed and it is expected that they will help rationalize the work of SOE as it unfolds.
