In 1972, the Parliament of Fiji passed the Libraries (Deposit of Books) Act. According to this Act, every printer and publisher in Fiji must deposit a copy, free of charge, to the USP Library and the National Archives of Fiji. The purpose is to preserve the nation’s cultural and intellectual heritage. Given the low volume of publishing in the country, it is very important that printers and publishers adhere to the law as too often, materials go out of production and are forever lost to present and future generations. The printed or published material should be deposited within one month of the day the first book is delivered out of press. Materials received by USP Library are added to the Pacific Collection (make link) where they may be borrowed according to the rules of the Collection. Please send or deliver the deposit copies of publications to: The Library welcomes donations in cash or kind, and gifts of materials. Gifts of materials may be in both print and non-print formats, including electronic format. Top
