Bachelor's Degree Programmes

All students admitted into a Bachelor Programme are required to complete four university courses. The university courses are UU100, UU114,UU200 and UU204. This requirement came into effect for all degree students admitted as at 2010.

USP offers seven bachelor's degree qualifications - the Bachelor of Agriculture (BAgr), the Bachelor of Arts (BA), the Bachelor of Commerce (BCom), the Bachelor of Education (BEd), the Bachelor of Engineering (BE), the Bachelor of Laws (LLB), and the Bachelor of Science (BSc). These programmes with the exception of the LLB require the completion of 22 courses, while the prescribed and combined bachelor degree require the completion of 32 courses.

For students commencing their programmmes in 2013, the 3 year Bachelor programme require the completion of 24 courses. The 4 year prescribed programmes require between 31-32 courses and joint programmes require the completion of a maximum of 40 courses.

In summary the requirements are that to be eligible to be admitted to a bachelor’s degree programme a person shall, as a minimum:

•    have passed a Senate-recognised Form 7 or equivalent examination; or

•    have completed a diploma or a degree at a recognised tertiary institution; or

•    have completed a qualification that USP recognises for cross credits; or

•    have met the mature student admission criteria.

In addition to the above there are special admission requirements specific to some programme or majors.

Students must complete a minimum of twenty two courses, eight at 100-level, eight at 200-level and six at 300-level in order to complete a Bachelor's degree.

Some bachelor’s degree programmes or majors have other criteria in addition to these, which are listed with each programme or major below.

New Students: All new degree-level students will sit an English proficiency test, English Language Skills Assessment (ELSA). Students identified by ELSA will be enrolled in the course, EL001 English Language Skills, which provides students with an opportunity to acquire the English language skills needed for successful university studies.

All Students:Students enrolling at Laucala, Emalus and Alafua Campuses can complete their enrolment process online via the USP website. All other students, including those without online access, should fill out the appropriate form, available at all USP campuses. Students requiring academic counselling can consult staff at their local USP campus or on campus academic advisors during registration. Notices about counselling, admission and registration appear in the local media within each USP member country.
