Single Major in Economics

The Degree of Bachelor or Arts (BA) consists of 20 courses. To obtain an Economics Single Major as part of a Bachelor of Arts (BA) program take the courses listed below.

Students intending to proceed to postgraduate study in economics are strongly advised to include EC301, EC302 and EC303 in the BA program as EC401, EC402 and EC403 are now compulsory for the Postgraduate Diploma.

EC102: Microeconomics I

EC201: Macroeconomics II

EC202: Microeconomics II

EC203: Economic Statistics

EC301: Monetary Economics

EC302: Public Finance

EC304: Economic Growth and Development

Plus at least two from

EC300: Research Project in Economics

EC303: Econometrics

EC305: Agricultural Economics

EC306: International Economics

EC307: Environmental and Natural Resource Economics

EC308: Economics of Tourism

EC309: Economic History of the South Pacific

EC310: Pacific Island Economies

SE306: Business Analysis

 

Other Recommended Courses

MA101: Mathematics for Social Sciences

SE100: Social Survey Methods and Data Analysis

Minor and electives

Minor: at least four course from another discipline

Electives:between two and four courses outside the major and minor
