International Student Pre-Departure Checklist

International students who are coming to USP as part of a formal student exchange program or the Study Abroad program will be given information, by the organisers of those programs, about what they need to do.

The checklist below lists things that you, as an independent international student, may need to do before you leave your home country.  It assumes you have already accepted USP's offer of a place and have received a copy of your Student Permit.

  • send an application for on campus accommodation (and deposit) to USP, if applicable
  • if you will not be staying on campus, arrange alternative accommodation
  • organise return air tickets
  • organise travel and medical insurance
  • if necessary, arrange for adequate supplies of prescription medication, contact lens solutions, etc as these may not be available at your destination
  • organise funds to support yourself during your studies
  • organise transport from the airport to USP (transport may be provided by USP for first year students who are staying on campus - when you notify the Student Accommodation administrator of your arrival date check what the arrangement is about airport pick-up)

Please make sure that you bring with you the original version of the offer letter sent to you by USP as well as your Student Permit, if you have already received it (and passport!).
