Paper 1, called Human Rights & Fijian Values, will be attempted only by persons whose mother tongue is not Fijian (e.g. by Indian students). Human Rights and Values Competition - Working Document 2004 Over the past decade Fiji has born testament to many instances of the neglect and violations of the basic human rights of its peoples. The issue has been publicised world-wide by many organisations and individuals. It was a matter of surprise to the Deputry Director therefore that many young in Fiji today did not seem to know what their basic human rights were, how they were enshrined in various national and international documents, the instances of human rights violations and the history of the campaigns that have been waged globally to assure these rights for all citizens of the world.
