Win 2000 Win XP
Click on Start -> Printers and Faxes
Click add a printer from the side menu
This should start up the add printer wizard
Select the automatically detect and install box. This should successfully install your local printer.

However if you get a screen similar to the one below, you will need to install the printer manually
Click next and select the port your printer is connected to. Usually LPT1 or USB

Select the correct driver from the list

Click Next. Enter an appropriate name for the printer and select whether you want is as default

Next the wizard will ask if you want to share the printer and whether you want to print a test page.
Once you reached the screen below you have successfully install your printer.
