Updates of general committee.

New Committees Approved by Senate

Senate has approved three new committees :

  1. Gender Mainstreaming Advisory Committee
  2. Medals and Prizes Committee

Election of One Academic and One Comparable Staff to the Staff Policy Committee

At the close of polls on 17 April 2009, Dr Miliakere Kaitani (academic) and Ms Emily Pouvalu (comparable) have been elected to the Staff Policy Committee.

They will serve a two a year term to end on 31 December 2010.

Election of One Staff Member from the Academic and Comparable Staff to Finance and Investments Committee

At the close of nominations for the above election, two valid nominations were received. However at the end of the withdrawal period, one of the candidates has withdrawn. This means that the remaining candidate Mr Sunil Kumar (School of Economics) has been declared elected.

Mr Kumar will serve the remainder of Dr Mahendra Reddy’s 3-year term which will end on 30 June 2010.

Finance and Investments Committee-Appointment by Council

Pro-Chancellor has appointed Ms Mishka Tuifua as the second independent member from one of the countries in the region other than Fiji.

Ms Tuifua is the Chairperson of the Public Service Commission in Tonga and her area of expertise is treasury. She will serve a three year term ending 26 September 2010.

Election of Two Non Professorial Members of the Academic Staff to Council

At the close of nomination of the above election, Mr Sunil Kumar ( School of Economics) and Dr Morgan Tuimalealiifano have been declared elected.

Their term of membership ends 30 June 2010.
