The University of the South Pacific (USP) is the premier provider of tertiary education in the Pacific Region and an international centre of excellence for teaching, research, consulting and training on all aspects of Pacific culture, environment and human resource development needs. USP comprises a vibrant and culturally diverse community of staff and students from its 12 member countries: Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu, as well as many other countries world-wide.

USP is a multi-modal university, offering hundreds of courses both on campus and by distance and flexible learning (DFL) in a variety of modes including print, video-broadcast, face-to-face and online.  Of the more than 22,000 enrolled students at USP, more than half choose distance study.  For such students USP's sophisticated satellite network, USPNet, serves as a gateway for interaction, information, research and higher learning, providing links with USP's three major campuses in Fiji, Samoa and Vanuatu and its 12 other campuses.  Collectively the university's Campuses are located across 33 million square kilometres of ocean covering five different times zones.

USP offers internationally recognised undergraduate and postgraduate study programs in a wide variety of disciplines.  In addition to its teaching activities, the University has developed a strong track record in research, particularly in the areas of business management, teacher education, politics, law, Pacific studies, development, governance, marine studies, agriculture, science and technology and tourism.
