Report on USP - Japanese University Course Offered Via Satellite

USP CS course, "Advanced Information Engineering for Small Business with Open Source Software CS493", was offered in semester 1, 2004. For the first time ever, the course was conducted live via satellite from the University of Electro Communications (UEC), Japan. Using Internet Protocol (IP)-Based technology for the lectures enabled for a more interactive and practical course.

Students were provided with concepts and applications used in modern information technology for business. The class involved study areas of open computer network systems, Computer Security and Risk Management, Computers with Commercial Laws and Intellectual Properties and Homepage Design with Open Source Database using with hands-on exercises.

Of the 21 students that enrolled in the course, a total of 18 sat and passed the examination.
