Farewell to JICA Expert, Mr.
Wade Miyagi
The University of the South Pacific
and the Project farewelled the Technical Advisor
for the DFL Component, Mr. Wade Miyagi. Mr. Miyagi
returned to Japan on August 23rd after completing
his term of just over 2 years.
During his term with the Project,
Mr. Miyagi worked very closely with DFL Support
Centre staff in enhancing ICT capacity for USP
including:
Introduced new technologies
- successfully installed objects Multimedia
Database, a web-based centralising indexing
system for digital educational material or Learning
objects and installed Streaming media, the first
of its kind in the region;
"Provided advisory role in the development and
offering of first e-learning course at USP,
CS222 in semester 2, 2004;
Ongoing On-the-job training
of USP counterparts;
Running a series of seminars
and workshops on multimedia and distance education;
Conducted Multimedia workshop
in Emalus Campus, Vanuatu.
Sent USP staff on counterpart
training on Multimedia Production for Education
and Digital Video Production;
Facilitated seminar on Online
Copyright Laws between USP and NIME (National
Institute of Multimedia Education), Japan.
We would also like to welcome Mr.
Miyagi's successor, Dr. Kader Hiroshi Pramanik
who will be working with the Project for the next
11 months of the Project.
