Equipment Provision for Laucala Campus and Solomon Islands Centre

More equipment was purchased by the Project in March 2005 for Laucala Campus and Solomon Islands Centre to enhance distance mode of education.

Laucala Campus - These included equipment for the Multimedia Database MDB (a web-based centralised indexing system for digital educational material or Learning Objects) as backup for MDB data. Seventeen (17) computers were also provided for the School of Law (SOL). Law students at Laucala campus had been facing access restrictions to computers for distance education. It is anticipated that a computer lab will be set up for these students by May.

Solomon Islands Centre - Equipment provided for the Centre included thirty-five (35) computers and other equipment for the set up of a computer laboratory. Such equipment will greatly assist with access to distance education at the Centre which currently has about one thousand three hundred (1300) students enrolled for study.
