Presentation of Findings on E-Tourism Research: The Role of ICT in the enhancement of the Tourism Sector

Under the project's ICT Research and Training Component, a presentation of two "ICT utilisation in Tourism" researches was held on Wednesday, 3rd November at USP.

The presentation titles were:

1. 'Integrating Communities in Tourism Development: Opportunities for GIS as Planning Support Tool'. Dr. Stephen Doorne (Lecturer, Tourism Studies Programme, USP) Mr. Conway Pene (Asst. Lecturer, Geography Department, USP)

2. "Empirical study on the Internet-marketing for Small and Micro-sized Hotel Operators". Ms. Maki Kato (Project Coordinator and expert in ICT Research & Training)

The main objectives of the presentations were to share the results of the two ICT and Tourism related researches, to obtain feedback from key stakeholders on the research results, and to raise the profile of tourism and ICT related issues.

Key stakeholders in the Tourism field from government, private sector, donor agencies and regional organisations attended the presentation which was facilitated by Dr. Ropate Qalo, head of the School of Social and Economic Development, USP.
