Graduate School of Business hosts virtual orientation for its new students

 

The Graduate School of Business (GSB) welcomed more than 80 new students to its virtual orientation programme at the Statham Campus recently.

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) GSB offers the Master of Business Administration (MBA), a well-known programme identified for its excellence in the Oceania region.

The purpose of the orientation was to help the students become acquainted with the resources available to the GSB students and provide information to ease the transition into graduate school.

The Head of School, School of Business and Management, Professor Gurmeet Singh, welcomed and congratulated the students for securing a place at the University.

He advised the students to excel academically, make decisions that will benefit their future, and thanked them for choosing the GSB programme as part of their incredible journey!

During the orientation, students and staff also engaged with an alumnus who introduced and talked about his work.

Product Manager and MBA Alumni at the Ministry of Civil Service, Mr Christopher Prasad, gave an inspiring speech to the new MBA/PGC students about cultivating the right values, attitudes, and skills-sets as leaders.

He advised the students, “This is the beginning of a journey to discover yourself”.

“The road to success is constructed, step by step, along the journey. This is the promise of both professional and personal growth, offered by the MBA programme,” Mr Prasad added.

“An intense journey filled with emotions, encounters and discoveries, able to enrich any profile and offer new incentives to the professionals of tomorrow. Follow your dreams and be different.”

The session also included an overview of online enrolment, registration, Moodle training, soft skills development and presentations from the various sections of USP.

The Finance staff highlighted USP’s Finance Policies and Procedure and while students were also introduced to the USP Library self-learning sessions including exploring online databases and conducting an effective internet search.
