The Japan East-Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths (JENESYS) 2017 project was launched by His Excellency Mr Masahiro Omura, Japanese Ambassador, on 25 September 2017, at the Japan-Pacific ICT Multipurpose Theatre at the Laucala Campus.
JENESYS 2017 project is a people-to-people exchange programme between Japan and the Asia-Pacific region. Under the 2017 project, a total of 181 students from Pacific Islands Countries (PICs) and 55 students from Australia and New Zealand will be visiting Japan from 29 November 2017 - 2 February 2018.

Successful Graduation at USP Solomon Islands Campus - 29 Sep 2017 03:28:21 pm
Two hundred and twenty eight (228) students received their degree, diplomas and certificates during The University of South Pacific’s (USP) Solomon Islands Campus graduation on 29 September 2017.
Thirty-nine per cent (39%) of those that graduated today were females and twenty-four per cent (24%) of the graduates graduated with Postgraduate qualifications.
Two (2) graduates from the Republic of Marshall Islands and three (3) from Fiji graduated along with 223 Solomon Islands graduates.

The University of South Pacific’s (USP) Emalus Campus in Port Vila, Vanuatu organised a seminar presentation by Professor Harvey Whitehouse, Director of the Institute of Cognitive and Evolutionary Anthropology and Dr Jonathan Jong, Deputy Director of the Belief, Brain, and Behaviour research group from the University of Oxford on 26th September, 2017 for students and staff.

Two policy documents that have just been added to the Policy Library have the potential to transform and “future proof” learning and teaching at The University of the South Pacific (USP) in many ways.
This was expressed by Professor Som Naidu, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Flexible Learning and Director of the Centre for Flexible Learning, who drafted the two policies in consultation with a wide range of stakeholders at USP and abroad.
These are the Flexible Learning Policy and the Open Educational Resources (OER) Policy.

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) School of Education in conjunction with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) launched the COP23 school-based programme at John Wesley College on 15 September 2017 in Suva, Fiji.
The Permanent Secretary for Education, Heritage and Arts, Mr Iowane Tiko, who was the Chief Guest at the launch, commended the collaboration between the School of Education and UNICEF for partnering on the initiative to develop this awareness programme in the demonstration schools.

A total of 1184 students of The University of the South Pacific (USP) graduated as part of the second Laucala Campus graduation ceremony for 2017 at the Vodafone Arena in Laucala, Suva on 22 September.
Of this number, 698 students graduated in the morning session and the remaining 486 in the afternoon session.
A notable feature of this graduation ceremony was that sixty-three per cent (63%) of the graduates were females. Twenty one percent (21%) were from Pacific TAFE, while twenty four (24%) received Postgraduate qualifications. Nine students graduated with PhD.... More »
