A total of 1,774 students will be graduating from The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) March graduation ceremony for 2018 at the National Gymnasium over a two day period from 22 to 23 March 2018.
On the 22 March, a total of 983 students graduated in a two part ceremony with 642 students graduating in the morning ceremony from the Faculty of Arts, Law and Education (FALE) and the Faculty of Science, Technology and Environment (FSTE); while 341 students were awarded the certificates and diplomas from the Pacific Technical and Further Education in the afternoon ceremony. A total of fifty-two (52) students of The University of the South Pacific (USP) received gold medals in fifty-eight (58) categories during the annual Medals and Prizes Ceremony at the Japan – Pacific ICT Multi-Purpose Theatre, Laucala Campus on 20 March 2018.

“Talking to the Ancestors” Exhibition Officially Opened - 21 Mar 2018 12:48:10 pm
The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Oceania Centre for Arts, Culture and Pacific Studies (OCACPS) has officially opened its “Talking to the Ancestors” Exhibition, which will be open to the public for a month from 19 March – 20 April 2018.
This multimedia exhibition that features over 500 photographs spanning five (5) decades of service to the region, presents a rare insight into the communal albums of USP by providing current members of the University including students, staff, alumni, stakeholders and the wider community, a look back and across time.

Samoa’s Minister for Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) Honourable Afamasaga Lepuia'i Rico Tupai paid a courtesy visit to The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Laucala Campus on 15 March 2018.
Professor Rajesh Chandra, Vice-Chancellor and President of USP extended a warm welcome as it was his first visit, adding that he was delighted to host him.
Professor Chandra congratulated the Hon. Minister for the ICT development in Samoa, in particular with the new submarine Cable Tui Samoa.

The University of the South Pacific (USP) is the mother of all universities in the Pacific and has been called for a particular duty to serve its member countries.
This was the sentiment expressed by Professor Unaisi Walu Nabobo Baba, a USP alumnus and Dean of College of Humanities of Education at Fiji National University.

Two students received the Faculty of Arts, Law and Education (FALE) Dean’s Award for the 2017 Most Outstanding First Year Student Award at The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Laucala Campus on 12 March, 2018.
The award is for students who have performed exceptionally well during their first year of study at USP. They were:

The University of the South Pacific (USP) celebrate Open Education (OE) Week via an OE Forum at the Japan-Pacific ICT Multi-Purpose Lecture Theatre at USP on March 15, 2018.
To acknowledge current milestones and create awareness on the OE practices at USP, the Centre for Flexible Learning (CFL) organised an OE Forum which was inaugurated by Professor Richard Coll, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Learning, Teaching and Student Services.

A team from The University of the South Pacific (USP) won the inter-tertiary debate against the Fiji National University with the theme, “Should cyberspace be regulated to deal with fake news and cyber bullying.”
Organised by the Consumer Council of Fiji and hosted at USP’s Faculty of Business and Economics (FBE), the event marked the World Consumer Rights Day with the theme, ‘Making digital marketplaces fairer and safer’.

The University of the South Pacific (USP) held its first Vice-Chancellor’s Student Forum for the year at the Japan-Pacific ICT Multipurpose Theatre on 14 March 2018.
