Exploring Tourism Opportunities and Mobilities at STHM - 22 May 2017 02:46:02 pm
A recent research colloquium at The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) School of Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM) brought together cross-School and Faculty members, as well as industry representatives to discuss two ongoing postgraduate research projects.
Postgraduate student, Mr Nemani Tebana, whose interest in tourism and hospitality management started when he managed a small motel on Tarawa, Kiribati, was the first presenter. Mr. Tebana was a board member of the Kiribati Tourism Board, as well as Tourism Director for the Kiribati Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

USP to hold 84th Council Meeting in RMI - 19 May 2017 03:30:04 pm
The 84th Council meeting of The University of the South Pacific (USP) will be held at USP’s Republic of Marshall Islands (RMI) Long Island Campus, in Majuro from 24 - 25 May 2017.
USP Council is the highest decision-making body of the University, and meets twice a year to discuss the affairs of the University.

As an institute of developing human resources in the region, The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Pacific Technical and Further Education (Pacific TAFE) is proud to make a sponsorship of FJD 10,000 for the 2017 Fiji Human Resources Institute (FHRI) National Convention which will be held from 27 – 28 October 2017.

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Faculty of Science, Technology and Environment (FSTE) have donated Braille Eye-Slates to three (3) special schools in Fiji.
The Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts and National Archives of Fiji, Honourable Dr Mahendra Reddy officially presented the Braille Eye-Slates to the Fiji School for the Blind on 16 May 2017.

Risk management is not a separate system or something ticked off on a check list but the way one makes decisions and must become part of an organisational culture or way of thinking.
This was the message by Ms Sheila Sachs, Risk/Insurance Manager during The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Regional Campus Directors Forum on 12 May 2017.
Ms Sachs said that everyone at all levels manage risk every day to help achieve their goals and objectives. Practicing risk management provides benefits by way of improvements in the efficiency and effectiveness.

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) School of Accounting and Finance (SOAF) together with Ernst & Young (EY) Fiji jointly hosted a career event for final year accounting students on 29th April, 2017.

Students of The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Journalism programme held a successful media conference with the University’s Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Rajesh Chandra on 10 May 2017.
Professor Chandra welcomed the students and said that as they train to become journalists, it is important to have dialogue with them for accountability and transparency purposes.

“A paradigm shift is taking place in education towards greater flexibility for all stakeholders, students, teachers and institutions, and it is imperative that we adapt and evolve with it otherwise we risk leaving our students ill prepared for the workplace and future work”.
