Recent research findings by The University of the South Pacific (USP) reveal there is a high demand for quality Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) programmes, based on the varying socio-cultural contexts of young children, particularly to cater for the different age groups up to age five (5). The University of the South Pacific (USP) engaged with regional scholarship officers for its annual Scholarship Officers and Education Attaché talanoa Session on 29 September 2017 at the University’s Laucala Campus. The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Cook Islands Campus concluded its Qigong-Baduanjin exercise programme in the Peace Garden adjoining the Campus on 29 September 2017. The programme ran for four (4) weeks in the first part of Semester 2 as part of the Confucius Classroom’s Chinese culture programme and aimed at development of an energetic and active mind, utilising Qigong and the Chinese medical practice of Baduanjin. The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Campus Life Section successfully hosted an awards night for the First Year Experience Buddy Programme on 30 September 2017. A major highlight of the programme was the 2017 Buddy of the Year Award which was sponsored by Wesptac Banking Corporation and as part of the award, the winner, Nikeel Krishneel Seth will travel to an Australian university in Semester 1, 2018 to get an international student experience and meet with relevant bodies in the university there. More than 700 Year Thirteen (13) students of Vanuatu were recently briefed on The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) admission requirements by the University’s Student Administrative Services (SAS). This followed an invitation to SAS from the Vanuatu Training and Scholarship Coordination Unit (VTSCU) to partner with them in the visitation of selected high schools around Vanuatu that usually are main feeder schools to both USP’s Laucala and Emalus campuses. The Japan East-Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths (JENESYS) 2017 project was launched by His Excellency Mr Masahiro Omura, Japanese Ambassador, on 25 September 2017, at the Japan-Pacific ICT Multipurpose Theatre at the Laucala Campus. JENESYS 2017 project is a people-to-people exchange programme between Japan and the Asia-Pacific region. Under the 2017 project, a total of 181 students from Pacific Islands Countries (PICs) and 55 students from Australia and New Zealand will be visiting Japan from 29 November 2017 - 2 February 2018. Successful Graduation at USP Solomon Islands Campus - 29 Sep 2017 03:28:21 pm
Two hundred and twenty eight (228) students received their degree, diplomas and certificates during The University of South Pacific’s (USP) Solomon Islands Campus graduation on 29 September 2017. Thirty-nine per cent (39%) of those that graduated today were females and twenty-four per cent (24%) of the graduates graduated with Postgraduate qualifications.
