The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) School of Education (SOED) staff met with two leading academics from the University of Tasmania’s Faculty of Education from 3-4 July to share ideas and discuss mutual interests of collaboration. A workshop on Open Educational Resources (OER) successfully ended at The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Workforce Development Training Unit (WDTU) on 29 June 2017. The week-long workshop, which focused on the use of OER for skills development in the Pacific, was facilitated by the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) and hosted by USP’s Pacific Technical and Further Education (Pacific TAFE). The University of the South Pacific (USP) has recorded 74 A/A* publications in 2016, the highest ever in the history of the University. Professor Jito Vanualailai, Director Research confirmed this saying the previous high was recorded in 2014 at 61. “This is great news and testament to the fact that USP’s Strategic Plan initiatives are certainly bearing fruits,” he noted.
