The University of the South Pacific (USP) formally installed Prime Minister of Cook Islands Honourable Henry Puna as the 23rd Chancellor of the University at the Vodafone Arena during the Laucala Campus graduation ceremony on 26 August 2016.
Pro-Chancellor and Chair of Council Mr Winston Thompson warmly welcomed the new Chancellor on behalf of the University Council. He assured Honourable Puna of the full support from the USP community.

A very strong sense of service to the students should be an important part of the culture of all academics and support staff at The University of the South Pacific (USP).
This comment was made by USP Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Rajesh Chandra during the official opening of the 15th USP Students Association (USPSA) Federal Council Meeting on 29 August 2016.

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Pasifika Voices based at the Oceania Centre for Arts, Culture and Pacific Studies (OCACPS) have secured the official contract of providing a choir for the soundtrack of the much anticipated Hollywood Disney Animation, Moana.
Moana is an upcoming 2016 American 3D computer-animated musical fantasy film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios, the 56th film in Disney's animated features canon, and is being directed by Ron Clements and John Musker.

The University of the South Pacific (USP) continues to showcase the quality and relevance of its programmes, which sets it apart from others through internationally recognised accreditations.
This was highlighted by the USP Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Rajesh Chandra during his welcoming address at the second Laucala Campus graduation ceremony for 2016. So far, 16 programmes of the University have received international accreditations.

It was an emotional atmosphere for the 900 plus graduating students and their families after finally being awarded their certificates and degrees during the second graduation of The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Laucala Campus.
The scene inside and outside the Vodafone Arena in Laucala was one of utter joy as graduates huddled together for photoshoots with their loved ones.

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP’s) Laucala Campus hosted a Post Open Day Cocktail on 19 August 2016 to acknowledge the hard work of the Open Day Organising Committee, student ambassadors, sponsors, television hosts and other stakeholders for making the 2016 Open Day a success.
Director Development, Marketing, Communications and Alumni Jaindra Karan said a total of 83 schools visited the Laucala Campus, 24 to the Lautoka Campus and 27 schools to the Labasa Campus.

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Alafua Campus in Samoa hosted a successful Open Day 2016 on 19 August.
This year, the event attracted over 1000 secondary school students including members of the public including Government ministries, private sector, and community groups to hear of alternative pathways after secondary education.
