The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) School of Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM) successfully hosted its 10th Annual Student Ball at the Grand Pacific Hotel recently. A total of fifty-one (51) students in the Science Teachers Accelerated Programme (STAP) cohort were conferred with the Bachelor of Science degree by Honorable Henry Puna, Chancellor of USP and the Prime Minister of Cook Islands, during the Alafua Campus graduation ceremony on 25 November 2016. This number represented a noteworthy eighty-six percent (86%) of the fifty-nine (59) student cohort. The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Bachelor of Geospatial Science programme has been awarded the 2016 Spatial Industry Business Association (SIBA) 2016 Pacific Spatial Excellence Award in the People and Community category.  SIBA is a prominent body in Australia that promotes the geospatial industry. The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) School of Engineering and Physics (SEP) assisted in the installation of a solar refrigeration project on Yanuca Island in the province of Serua in Fiji. Yanuca is a small island located in the South West of Deuba, approximately 20 km away from the main island of Viti Levu where there is only one village with thirty nine families (39) and a total population of about two hundred (200) people. One hundred and fifty-five (155) students received certificates, diplomas and degrees during The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Emalus Campus graduation ceremony in Vanuatu on 2 December 2016. The awards were conferred by Honourable Henry Puna, USP Chancellor and Prime Minister of Cook Islands. Of the total number of graduates, fifty-one percent (51%) were females.
