Eleven Australia Awards Pacific Scholarship (AAPS) students from The University of the South Pacific (USP) scooped special awards for their outstanding achievement during an end-of-semester awards lunch on 27 October 2016 at USP’s Laucala campus in Suva.
The students are from USP’s Member Countries and varying disciplines including Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Postgraduate Diploma in Education and PhD.

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Faculty of Arts, Law and Education (FALE) held yet another successful Student Leadership Forum at the Japan-Pacific ICT Theatre in Laucala Campus on 21 October 2016.
The forum is aimed at empowering USP students as future leaders and this year it was completely student-driven right from registration, welcoming, mastering the ceremony and facilitating of the activities.

A meeting between senior representatives of The University of the South Pacific (USP) and the Pacific Islands Advisor for the Embassy of Israel based in Canberra on 25 October, 2016 at the Laucala Campus was a success.
USP was represented by the Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Derrick Armstrong, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Learning Teaching and Student Services Professor Richard Coll and Manager Development, Iresh Lal.

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) journalism programme held its annual awards on 21 October 2016 at the Laucala Campus in recognition of the efforts by aspiring journalists in its fold.
The awards function, sponsored by the School of Language, Arts and Media (SLAM) and Faculty of Arts, Law and Education, recognises and rewards students who excel in their coursework, which includes producing news for print, online and broadcast media.
This year the Journalism programme commemorated the 20th anniversary of its student training newspaper, Wansolwara.

The University of the South Pacific (USP) in its efforts for continuous institutional improvement, witnessed a successful inaugural visit of the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) Staff Liaison and Vice-President, Dr Maureen Maloney from 11-14 October 2016 at the Laucala Campus in Suva.

Forty-eight (48) graduates from the Solomon Islands Public Service have successfully completed requirements leading to the award of their Post Graduate Certificates in Public Administration (PGCPA) by The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Pacific Islands Centre for Public Administration (PICPA).
Mr Nego Sisiolo, Permanent Secretary of the Solomon Islands Ministry of the Public Service said the Solomon Islands Public Service is indeed fortunate and grateful to be supported by PICPA towards its capacity building programme for senior public officers on USP’s PGCPA in Honiara.

The University of the South Pacific (USP) and Telecom Fiji Limited (TFL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to provide partnership and cooperation in the fields of Engineering, Information Technology (IT), and Computing Science for a term of three (3) years.

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Graduate School of Business (GSB) in collaboration with the Small Enterprise Association of Australia and New Zealand Ltd (SEAANZ), organised a workshop on Entrepreneurship on 11-15 October.

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) School of Law came out victors during the Faculty of Arts, Law and Education (FALE) Annual Inter-School Student Debate Series Grand Final at the Laucala Campus on 13 October, 2016.
The School supported the fact that, “the United Nation’s obligation to protect human rights ought to be more valued above its obligation to respect national sovereignty,” while School of Education opposed the statement.
