The University of the South Pacific (USP) held its first Vice-Chancellor’s Student Forum for the year at the Japan-Pacific ICT Multipurpose Theatre on 14 March 2018.
Professor Richard Coll, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Learning, Teaching and Student Services (LTSS) warmly welcomed students to the forum saying it was encouraging to see them in numbers.
Students were shown a brief video about the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) Accreditation and why the University was seeking it.

New Zealand High Commissioner visits USP - 13 Mar 2018 02:06:45 pm
His Excellency Mr Jonathan Curr, New Zealand’s High Commissioner to Fiji paid a courtesy visit to The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Laucala Campus on 12 March 2018.
Warmly welcoming Mr Curr, Professor Rajesh Chandra, Vice-Chancellor and President of USP congratulated him on his new appointment as High Commissioner and wished him well.
Professor Chandra stated that USP had excellent relations with His Excellency’s predecessor Mr Mark Ramsden during his term, who was a “proactive and effective ambassador for USP”.

WDTU organises Women & Leadership Course - 9 Mar 2018 12:09:22 pm
The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Workforce Development Training Unit (WDTU) held a one-day Women & Leadership course at the unit in Walu Bay on 8 March, 2018 to coincide with International Women’s Day.
The WDTU is an operational unit within USP’s Pacific Technical and Further Education (PTAFE) to respond to the needs of short course trainings in the region.

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Tuvalu Campus has recently been engaging with the people of Tuvalu on a more interactive approach in an effort to pave a brighter future for Tuvalu.
Taking on the initiative, Dr Rosiana Lagi, USP Tuvalu’s Campus Director made a three day trip visiting the Central Islands of Tuvalu.

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Institute of Applied Sciences (IAS) team continued the implementation of the Restoration of Ecosystem Services and Adaptation to Climate Change (RESCCUE) project with various activities in Nakorotubu in the province of Ra in the Fiji Islands from 5-10 February 2018.
IAS is the RESCCUE Fiji Operator along with Landcare Research New Zealand, Wildlife Conservation Society, Conservation International and Fiji Environment Law Association.

His Excellency Mr QIAN Bo, the newly-appointed Ambassador for the People’s Republic of China paid a courtesy visit to The University of the South Pacific (USP) at the Laucala Campus on 6 March 2018.
He was met by Professor Rajesh Chandra, Vice-Chancellor and President of USP and members of the Senior Management Team at the Chancellery Board Room.

A final year student of The University of the South Pacific (USP) attended the weeklong Orientation programme at Australia’s Macquarie University from 19-23 February, 2018, as part of his prize for winning the USP’s 2017 Westpac Buddy of the Year award recipient.
USP has a Buddy programme under Campus Life’s First Year Experience Office. It is a volunteer programme which links senior students with first year students to help them with a seamless transition into university life.

Teaching and education issues confronting the Solomon Islands was the focus of discussion between The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) School of Education (SOEd) and the Honourable John Dean Kuku, the Solomon Islands Minister for Education at the Laucala Campus on 16 February 2018.
