The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) School of Computing, Information and Mathematical Sciences organised the 2017 School Fest on 9 September 2017.
The School Fest, which is a Microsoft Initiative at USP is an Information Technology (IT) festival where Secondary School students participate in competitions to test their IT knowledge and skills.
A total of 180 students from 21 Secondary Schools around the Central Division were part of the event.

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Educare Centre concluded its term three with the launch of COP23 awareness at the Laucala Campus on 8 September 2017.
The Educare centre is a pre-school centre that caters for children aged 3-6 years. The teachers provide well planned play-based activities which help children develop holistically to acquire all the skills necessary for school.

The Government of Vanuatu has made its first instalment of 5 million Vatu to assist in the continuation of the Pacific Islands Legal Information Unit (PacLII) based at The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Emalus Campus in Vanuatu. The total funding is 22 million vatu.
Honourable Charlot Salwai, Prime Minister of Vanuatu officially handed over the cheque to Mr Winston Thompson, USP Pro-Chancellor and Chair of Council during a recent meeting between the Vanuatu Government and USP.

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) School of Engineering and Physics has made another donation of its innovative device, the Braille Eye-Slate to the Solomon Islands Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development (MEHRD) on 28 August 2017.
Student Nikhil Singh and Dr Utkal Mehta, Senior Lecturer travelled to Solomon Islands and handed over the two devices to the students through MEHRD.

Honourable Vice Admiral (Rtd) Paul Maddison, High Commissioner of Canada visited The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Emalus Campus along with Mr Donald Bobiash, Assistant Deputy Minister, Asia Pacific OGM of Global Affairs Canada on 2 September, 2017.

The University of the South Pacific (USP) was part of a conference organised by the Pacific Regional Branch of the International Council on Archives (PARBICA) at the Pearl Resort in Pacific Harbour, Fiji.
The conference, which was from 4-7 September, 2017, aimed to renew professional contacts with other archivists in the Pacific, discuss challenges and possible solutions and build the technical and professional knowledge of its members.

The Records Management office at The University of the South Pacific (USP) hosted a morning tea on August 31, 2017 for Managers and Supervisors to raise awareness of good records management practices and the use of the University’s electronic records management system, HP Records Manager (HPRM).

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) School of Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM) hosted a research seminar featuring Assistant Professor Dr Denis Tolkach and his recent collaborative research on ‘Ethics of Chinese & Western Tourists in Hong Kong’.

The University of the South Pacific (USP) held its 2017 Vice-Chancellor’s Forum on Learning and Teaching (L&T) at the Laucala Campus on 31 August, 2017.
