All leaders require courage which includes both moral and physical courage and the late Nelson Mandela had both.
This was the sentiment expressed by Chief Justice Anthony Gates during the Mandela Day Celebration on 18 July 2018, at The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Japan-Pacific ICT Multipurpose Theatre, Laucala Campus.

Thousands of secondary school students from around the Western Division frequenting the various booths at The University of the South Pacific (USP)’s Lautoka Campus Open Day on 27 July 2018 were reminded to explore beyond what was being offered for their desired tertiary education courses.
Speaking at the Open Day Mr Bobby Maharaj, Chief Executive Officer of Tertiary Scholarship and Loans Board (TSLB) informed the students that the funding criteria for Tertiary Educations Loans Scheme (TELS) has been amended giving additional opportunity for students to select their subject areas.

Pacific TAFE delivers cohort of Climate Change Certificate - 1 Aug 2018 03:27:21 pm
The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) College of Science, Technology and Environment (CSTE) at the Pacific Technical and Further Education (Pacific TAFE) has begun a cohort delivery of the inaugural Certificate IV in Resilience (Climate Change Adaptation & Disaster Risk Reduction).
The Cohort consists of 24 students with 18 from Fiji and one each from Kiribati, Nauru, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Vanuatu.

The University Grants Committee (UGC) of The University of the South Pacific (USP) held its triennial meeting 2019-2021 at the Japan-Pacific ICT Centre, Laucala Campus from 16 to 19 July 2018.
Professor Rajesh Chandra, Vice-Chancellor and President of USP welcomed all members to the meeting and extended a special welcome to Mr Sunil Sharma, the new UGC Chair, who has an extensive background in finance for more than 30 years.

Professor Derrick Armstrong, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and International, officially opened the “We are the Ocean” Heritage and Arts Festival organised in celebration of The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) 50th Anniversary on 18 July 2018.

The University of the South Pacific (USP) is pleased to announce that it has received Initial Accreditation by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), United States for a term of six (6) years. This accreditation is without conditions, and WSCUC only approved Initial Accreditation, which may be followed by re-affirmation after 6 years, believing institutions need to be, as USP was judged, in a cycle of continuous improvement and committed to quality across the institution.

The Vanuatu Minister for Education and Training, Honourable Jean Pierre Nirua officially opened The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Emalus Campus 50th Anniversary Celebrations in Vanuatu on 23 July 2018.

Thousands of students attend USP Open Day 2018 - 27 Jul 2018 01:30:16 pm
More than ten thousand (10,000) students attended The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Open Day 2018 at the main Laucala Campus in Suva, Fiji.
This year USP saw schools attending from as far as Levuka that were also present for the official opening ceremony along with St Joseph Secondary School, Suva Muslim College and Vunimono High School.
Taniela Waqa, Year 13 student of Lelean Memorial School stated that he would definitely choose USP and was interested in pursuing a Bachelor of Science majoring in Biology and Chemistry.
