SOED relaunches the Journal of Educational Studies - 22 Dec 2017 01:54:38 pm
A pioneer journal of The University of the South Pacific (USP) the Directions: Journal of Educational Studies was re-launched by Professor John Loughran, the Executive Dean, Faculty of Education, Monash University at the Laucala Campus on 18 December 2017. Professor Loughran was the Chief Guest at the launch hosted by the School of Education (SOED). Published in 1978, the journal was housed at the Institute of Education and after three decades of its existence the School of Education has now revived the Journal in light of the demands on research and publication. ... USP’s SOED delivers teaching certificate in French - 21 Dec 2017 04:49:58 pm
The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) School of Education (SOED) made history with the first cohort of eleven (11) French-speaking students graduating with a Graduate Certificate in Education delivered in French during the graduation ceremony at the Emalus Campus in Vanuatu on 1 December 2017. The Graduate Certificate in Education, comprising eight (8) courses, were converted into the French language and all courses were delivered entirely in French. The new Resident Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Ms Yukari Ono paid a courtesy visit to The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Laucala Campus on 21 December 2017. She was accompanied by her predecessor, Mr Hiroyuki Sawada, current Resident Representative of JICA Fiji Office. The delegation was met by a USP team led by Professor Rajesh Chandra, Vice-Chancellor and President of USP. Pacific TAFE’s first batch students receive AQF accredited award - 21 Dec 2017 03:15:12 pm
The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Pacific Technical and Further Education (Pacific TAFE) held its inaugural function to award thirteen (13) of its students who have completed the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) accredited programme. Pacific TAFE became the first offshore Registered Training Organisation (RTO) with Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) in 2016 and held a graduation ceremony for its first batch of students graduating with the qualification on the scope of registration which is Certificate IV in Project Management Practice (BSB41515). ... The University of the South Pacific (USP)’s Cook Islands Confucius Classroom (CC) is one of the five (5) Confucius Classrooms that received the Confucius Classroom of the Year Award at the 12th Global Confucius Institute Conference at Xi’an, the capital of Shaanxi Province in China from 12-13 December 2017.  Out of the 1,113 Confucius Classrooms in the world, USP’s Confucius Classroom based in the beautiful Cook Islands received one of the awards for Confucius Classroom of the Year in the Advanced Class category.  The other four winners were Finham Park School, England; Rainbow Confucius Cl... 519 students graduate with Foundation Certificates from Pacific TAFE - 19 Dec 2017 12:31:55 pm
A graduation ceremony was held for The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Pacific Technical and Further Education (Pacific TAFE) students at the Laucala Campus on 15 December, 2017. Five hundred and nineteen (519) students graduated with their certificates in Foundation programme out of which seventy (70) students were conferred their certificates by Professor Richard Coll, Acting Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Learning, Teaching and Student Services (LTSS). The 85th Council of The University of the South Pacific (USP) instituted two new programmes for Pacific Technical and Further Education (Pacific TAFE) including the Diploma of Culinary Arts & Management (Level 5) and Diploma of Hospitality Management – Events, Food & Beverage and Front Office (Level 5). Both programmes are stair-casing qualifications and builds from current programmes offered by Pacific TAFE. USP Alumni receives Prestigious Award at International Conference - 15 Dec 2017 10:52:01 am
An alumnus of The University of the South Pacific (USP) was recognised at the 16th Annual Conference of the Australasian Centre for Social and Environmental Accounting Research (A-CSEAR) which concluded in Nadi, Fiji on 9 December, 2017. Associate Professor Sumit Lodhia, was inducted into the A-CSEAR Hall of Fame in recognition of his leadership and sustained research contributions to social and environmental accounting. He has contributed significantly to the A-CSEAR community through teaching, mentoring, publishing and supervising as well as reviewing journal articles and editing academic journals. ... More »
