The Solomon Islands has become the 10th member country of The University of the South Pacific (USP) to sign the USP Convention.
The Minister for Education and Human Resources Development of Solomon Islands, Honourable Mr John Dean Kuku signed the Convention on behalf of the Solomon Islands Government during the 85th USP Council meeting 25 October 2017.

USP rolls out Records Management system to Regional Campuses - 26 Oct 2017 01:09:50 pm
The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Records Management Office rolled out the University’s Electronic Document & Records Management system (EDRMS), HP Records Manager to USP Lautoka Campus on October 23, 2017.
This coincided with an awareness raising workshop on good records management practices and the use of the University’s EDRMS.
Ms. Maxine Valentine, Records Officer, reminded those present of the importance of records management for informed decision-making as it would assist the University to meet its legislative and audit requirements.

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) School of Accounting and Finance (SOAF) hosted a public lecture in memory of Professor Michael White at the Japan Pacific ICT Centre on 25 October, 2017.
Over 250 people, including senior members of the accounting profession, members of FIA, the USP community and the general public attended the lecture which was held in association with the Fiji Institute of Accountants (FIA).

The 85th Council meeting of The University of the South Pacific (USP) was successfully held at the Tanoa International Hotel, Nadi, Fiji from 24 - 25 October 2017.
USP Council is the highest decision-making body of the University, and meets twice a year to discuss the affairs of the University and comprises the Pro-Chancellor and Chair of Council, the Vice-Chancellor and President, representatives of the 12 member country governments, staff and students. The Fijian Government Ministry of Education, Heritage and Arts and National Archives of Fiji accorded The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Council members a formal traditional Fijian welcome and dinner on 24 October 2017 at the Iloilovatu Hall in Viseisei Village in Vuda, Lautoka. The traditional welcome was hosted by the Vanua Vuda.

The 85th Council meeting of The University of the South Pacific (USP) began at the Tanoa International Hotel in Nadi, Fiji on 24 October 2017.
USP Council is the highest decision-making body of the University, and meets twice a year to discuss the affairs of the University. The first meeting of the USP Council is normally held in one of the 11 member countries of USP and the second meeting is always held in Fiji. The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) held atwo-day Visioning Workshop at the Holiday Inn in Suva, Fiji to undertake deliberation on its future and envisioning its strategic positioning in 2024.
This effort was part of its New Strategic Plan 2019-2024 initiative, particularly focused on ascertaining the proposed Vision, Mission, Core Values, Priority Areas and Key Objectives to guide the work of the University over the new two trienniums.

The Faculty of Arts, Law and Education (FALE) at The University of the South Pacific (USP) hosted The Vision Motors - USP Youth Leadership Forum 2017 at the Japan-Pacific ICT Multipurpose Theatre on 29 September 2017.
Dr Akanisi Kedrayate, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Law and Education, in opening the forum, stressed on the evolving nature of leadership styles.
Dr Kedrayate argued for humanity in leadership, propagating that modern day leaders need to empathise with their subordinates.
