RMI President commends USP for Pacific educational needs - 24 May 2017 01:47:16 pm
The University of the South Pacific (USP) has responded significantly in translating the aspirations and hopes of the Republic of Marshall Islands Government into productive ends, said the President of RMI, Her Excellency, Dr Hilda. C. Heine. She made the comment while officially opening the 84th Meeting of the USP Council on 24May 2017 at the USP RMI Campus. “USP has been a significant contributor to the continuing realisation of the investment made by RMI to education, which remains a singular most important priority of my Government,” H.E Dr Heine said.... 46 students graduate from USP’s Marshall Islands Campus - 24 May 2017 08:54:29 am
A total of forty six (46) students graduated from The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) Campus on 23 May 2017. This was the second graduation ceremony hosted by the RMI Campus, the first was in 2012. The graduation ceremony immediately followed the official opening of the USP RMI Long Island Campus in Majuro. The University of the South Pacific (USP) officially opened its new Campus in the Republic of Marshall Islands (RMI) on 23 May 2017. The opening of the new USP RMI Campus was ahead of the University’s 84th Council Meeting from 24 – 25 May 2017. SGESE pays tribute to marine conservation champion - 23 May 2017 11:30:28 am
The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) School of Geography, Earth Science and Environment (SGESE) mourns the passing away of Mr Asakaia Balawa Mudunasolevu, a marine conservation champion and long-serving part-time USP employee, research associate, fieldtrip resource person and friend and mentor to staff, students and local and overseas scientists and conservationists for almost 20 years. Pacific TAFE hosts book launch - 23 May 2017 11:24:58 am
The Pacific Technical and Further Education (Pacific TAFE) of The University of the South Pacific (USP) hosted the launch of a book titled, Forgotten Struggles of Fiji Girmit on 12 May 2017 at its Workforce Development Training Unit in Walu Bay, Suva. The book, authored by Honourable Dr Brij Lal, brings back the forgotten memories of Girmit and stories associated with Girmit in Fiji. It also brings back memories of India, journey from India to Fiji, Girmit Life in Fiji and Life after Girmit. The launch coincided with this year’s Girmit celebration. ... More »

A new landmark in the form of a wooden tamtam now stands in front of the Research Office at The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Laucala Campus in Fiji. The tamtam was unveiled on 15 May, 2017 in a ceremony officiated by staff of the Research Office led by Professor Derrick Armstrong, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research, Innovation and International, representatives from the Vanuatu High Commission and students of Vanuatu. A recent research colloquium at The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) School of Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM) brought together cross-School and Faculty members, as well as industry representatives to discuss two ongoing postgraduate research projects. Postgraduate student, Mr Nemani Tebana, whose interest in tourism and hospitality management started when he managed a small motel on Tarawa, Kiribati, was the first presenter.
