USP hosts Project Management cohort in PNG - 12 Apr 2019 03:30:41 pm
The University of the South Pacific (USP), Pacific Technical and Further Education (Pacific TAFE), facilitated a cohort in Certificate IV in Project Management in Papua New Guinea with a total of 69 participants registered in the programme.
The programme, which is also a first for PNG is part of the United States Agency for International Development’s partnership with USP and Pacific TAFE, through its Climate Ready Project, to improve project management skills in the Pacific Island countries to better manage climate resilient projects.

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP), Pacific Technical and Further Education (Pacific TAFE) has further strengthened its partnership with Punjas.
The main objective of the partnership is to introduce students to high quality products – Anchor full cream milk and whipping cream and Punjas bakers and normal flour.
The partnership initially commenced in March 2017 and was set up by Greg Cornwall, a Fijian hospitality executive, hospitality training consultant and Wayne Hansell, Market Manager Pacific Export for Fonterra New Zealand.

The University of the South Pacific signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Australian Internships Pty Limited, an Australian based global internship provider with over 20 years experience offering internships in almost all academic disciplines for candidates from over 80 countries around the world.
The University is currently working with Australian Internships to introduce the “Pacific Internship Programme” - a “buddy system” whereby local USP students will be paired with an international university student and attached to a local host organisation for the duration of their internship... The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Laucala Campus was visited by the Crown Prince of Norway, His Royal Highness Haakon Magnus on 9 April 2019.

Emalus Campus hosts Climate Change Lecture Series - 8 Apr 2019 10:19:50 am
The University of the South Pacific’s (USP), Faculty of Science, Technology and Environment (FSTE) based at the Emalus Campus in Vanuatu organised two public lectures as part of a “Climate Change Public Lecture Series” which began last year.
The lecture, “EcoAdapt in the Pacific: Microeconomic Analysis” was delivered on 3rd April 2019 by Professor Christopher Fleming of Griffith University.

Eight students of The University of the South Pacific (USP) studying under the Australia Awards Pacific Scholarships (AAPS) were recognised for their efforts in a special ceremony at the Laucala Campus on 4 April 2019.
Ms Lorissa Hazelman welcomed the students and also congratulated the new recipients on receiving AAPS for 2019.

A two-day Youth Co-Lab Conference co-hosted by The University of the South Pacific (USP), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Ministry of Youth and Sport (MYS), and AusAID was held at the Innovation Hub, ICT Building A at the Laucala Campus from 26-27 March 2019.
The conference brought together young people from all over Fiji who engaged with youth advocates from various organisations within Fiji and around the region. The event was organised to align with the MYS Main Conference which was hosted consecutively at the Australia-Pacific Lecture Theatre at the Laucala Campus.

Students who took part in the Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths (JENESYS) project 2018 are grateful for the opportunity and have said they would not have traded the experience for anything else.
The JENESYS Programme is an initiative in partnership with the Government of Japan where University students from 14 Pacific Island Countries (PICs) including Australia and New Zealand are provided fully funded Nine Day study tours to Japan.

A final year student of The University of the South Pacific (USP) recently attended a weeklong Orientation programme at Australia’s Macquarie University, as part of his prize for scooping the Westpac Buddy of the Year 2018 award recipient.
USP has a Buddy programme under Campus Life’s First Year Experience Office, which links senior students with first year students to help them with a seamless transition into university life.
