Emalus Hosts 50th Anniversary Rugby 7s Tournament - 26 Jul 2018 10:18:17 am
The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Emalus campus hosted a 50th Anniversary 7s Rugby Tournament at the Kawenu filed in Port Vila on 24 July 2018.
This initiative by the Campus was part of its wider community engagement to mark the University’s 50th anniversary in 2018. A total of 8 teams participated in the one-day tournament.

The Vice-Chancellor and President of The University of the South Pacific (USP), Professor Rajesh Chandra launched USP’s official Mobile App on 19 July 2018.
This Mobile App accompanied the launch of three (3) more Apps including the USP Campus Map App, Events App and a web application for easier approval of registration forms related to Student Administrative Services (SAS) for easy approval and to ensure appropriate approval channel is followed in processing these forms.

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Lautoka Campus launched its Golden Jubilee celebrations with a march from Shirley Park to the Campus at Vidilo Street, Lautoka on 11 July 2018.
Termed their 50th Anniversary celebration as “Festival of Learning” the Campus organised a three-day celebration with activities including focus group seminars (for education, corporate and public sector), public displays around the Campus, and an alumni function.

A student of The University of the South Pacific (USP) won herself the Westpac Womens Education Grant at the Labasa Campus on 10 July 2018.
Ms Ilisapeci Qabale, a humble and soft spoken primary school teacher Ilisapeci Qabale recalled her recess mad rush to complete the winning essay entry for the Westpac Womens Education Grant as a blessing from above, and the results of her USP experiences as a Masters student.

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Laucala Campus hosted a public lecture on Pacific Regionalism by Honourable Peter Paire O’Neill, Prime Minister of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea (PNG) at the Japan-Pacific ICT Centre on 9 July 2018.

The Fijian Minister for Waterways, Honourable Mahendra Reddy officially opened the 2018 Pacific Update Conference at The University of the South Pacific (USP) on 5 July 2018 and highlighted that “the Conference is an excellent example of the link between research and policy thus contributing to better use of research findings for the ultimate benefit of the society.”
The two day Pacific Update Conference is a forum hosted by The Australian National University’s Development Policy Centre and USP’s School of Economics and is held at USP’s Japan-Pacific ICT Centre.

The University of the South Pacific (USP) is pleased to announce that the USP Convention has come into effect from 16 June 2018.
According to the Convention, the Fiji Government, as the depository has an obligation to inform USP Member Countries when the Convention will take effect and this will be formally conveyed by His Excellency Ratu Tui Cavuilati, the Roving Ambassador to the Pacific to the member country governments.

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) School of Education (SOEd) and the Vanuatu Ministry of Education will deliver the Vanuatu Teachers’ Leadership Programme (VTLP) in 2019.
This follows successful discussions held between Professor Govinda Lingam, Head of SOEd and Honourable Mr. Jean Pierre Nirua, the Vanuatu Minister of Education, officials from the Vanuatu Ministry of Education and Mr. John Kaltau, the National Scholarships Officer, on 3 July 2018.
