The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Faculty of Science, Technology and Environment (FSTE) is partnering up with For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Global Higher Education Network to facilitate the First Global Robotics Competition organised for high school students around the world.
FIRST Global is an international non-profit organisation that partners students between the ages fifteen (15) to eighteen (18) with engineering mentors to spark interest in technical education and careers.

A Romanian delegation visited The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Laucala Campus on 18 May 2018.
Led by Mrs. Daniela Gitman, Special Envoy of the UN Security Council Candidature, the delegation was in Fiji to promote the Romanian candidature to a non-permanent seat of the UN Security Council for the term 2020 – 2021.

USP Library Shows Video from 21-year-old Time Capsule - 28 May 2018 08:57:07 am
A major highlight of The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Library Focus Week, which was held from 14 – 18 May 2018, was the viewing of the VHS tape, which was part of the Time Capsule that was opened during the launch of the University’s 50th Anniversary in February this year.
Buried twenty one (21) years ago in a custom-made concrete chamber at the commencement of construction of the Australia-Pacific Lecture Theatre complex, the contents of paper documents and a VHS tape have succumbed to time and the elements of a tropical environment.

USP hosts first ever graduation ceremony in Nauru - 27 May 2018 07:47:29 am
The University of the South Pacific held its’ first-ever graduation ceremony in Nauru on 25 May 2018 at the Centennial Hall in Nauru.
A total of 48 students graduated, with three receiving their certificates in-person. The rest of the 45 students graduated in abstention. Apart from the 48 students who graduated, 57 Nauruan alumni were also presented to the Chancellor of USP.
The 24th Chancellor of USP, President of Fiji, His Excellency Major General (Ret’d) Jioji Konusi Konrote, conferred certificates, diplomas and degrees during the graduation ceremony.... More »
86th USP Council Meeting in Nauru Concludes - 24 May 2018 07:05:48 pm
The 86th Council meeting of The University of the South Pacific (USP) successfully concluded at USP’s Nauru Campus, in Yaren District, from 22 - 23 May 2018.
USP Council is the highest decision-making body of the University, and meets twice a year to discuss the affairs of the University and comprises the Pro-Chancellor and Chair of Council, the Vice-Chancellor and President, representatives of the 12 member country governments, staff and students. Nauru Government launches USP 50th Anniversary song - 23 May 2018 01:20:03 pm
The Government of Nauru has officially launched a song for The University of the South Pacific (USP) in commemoration of the University’s 50th anniversary celebrations.
The Minister for Education of Nauru, Honourable Charmaine Scotty officially launched the song, in the Nauruan language as part of a dinner hosted by the Ministry for USP Council members and staff on 22 May 2018 in Yaren District.

The University of the South Pacific (USP) through its Pacific Centre for Economic Policy & Modelling in conjunction with World Trade Organisation (WTO) and Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) hosted a public lecture on WTO & its Relevance to Pacific Island Countries. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Roberto Azevedo, the Director General of the World Trade Organisation at Laucala Campus and live-streamed to the region on 21 May 2018.

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) School of Education (SOEd) hosted over 20 Suva Secondary School Principals and school representatives for a Practicum Dialogue on 16 May 2018.
