The Asian Development Bank (ADB), Department of Foreign Affairs, Government of Australia (DFAT) and the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in collaboration with the Pacific Centre for Economic Policy & Modeling (CEP&M) and the School of Economics (SOEc) of The University of the South Pacific (USP) successfully organised a two-day Aid-for-Trade Conference from 7–8 February 2018 at the University’s Laucala Campus, Suva. SOED Postgrad Education Programme in demand in Vanuatu - 15 Feb 2018 12:17:22 pm
The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) School of Education (SOEd) has for the first time begun the delivery of a cohort-based Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) in Vanuatu. Vanuatu is currently experiencing a strong desire by teachers to further their qualifications especially in the area of educational leadership. This became evident when 20 Vanuatu teachers and educators attended and successfully completed the ED493 Advanced Studies in Educational Policy course during the Summer flexi-school at Emalus Campus in January 2018. The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Mr Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein acknowledged Pacific tradition and culture while giving a public lecture at The University of the South Pacific (USP) on 10 February, 2018. The Vice-Chancellor and President of The University of the South Pacific (USP), Professor Rajesh Chandra, has been awarded by The International Centre of Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality Education (THE-ICE) for his outstanding contribution in Tourism and Hospitality education, and training and research. The prestigious Fellow of THE-ICE award which Professor Chandra received is the highest order award given by THE-ICE to any person across the globe. More USP Convention Instruments deposited with Fiji Government - 8 Feb 2018 09:44:51 am
The University of the South Pacific (USP) deposited additional instruments of Signature and Ratification for the USP Convention to the Fiji Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Suva on 7 February, 2018. Mr Winston Thompson, Pro-Chancellor and Chair of the USP Council also took the opportunity to greet and formally congratulate Ratu Tui Cavuilati, the new Roving Ambassador for Oceania, on his recent appointment. JENESYS 2017 final group tour a success - 7 Feb 2018 04:25:03 pm
Fifty nine (59) students from The University of the South Pacific (USP) and four staff members recently returned from the Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths (JENESYS) programme two week-study tour in Japan which was from 24 January to 02 February 2018. The JENESYS Programme is a project advanced by the Japanese Government with an overarching goal of providing a foundation for strong solidarity within Asia through large-scale youth exchange from all around the Pacific. The University of the South Pacific (USP) and AIESEC,the world's largest non-profit youth-run organisation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and Letter of Agreement (LOA) at the Laucala Campus on 5 February 2018, for the promotion of youth internships and exchange programmes. AISEC is a youth leadership movement recognised internationally in Europe, Asia and an office has been established here in Suva, Fiji – a first in the Pacific.
