A staff member of The University of the South Pacific (USP) has developed an Application (App) called the Snap TopUp, which has the potential to support mobile devices. Mr Sanjeet Chand of USP’s Centre for Flexible Learning (CFL) initiated the notion after he mistyped his pin when trying to top up his phone and later discarded the card. Two USP Convention Instruments deposited with Fiji Government - 23 Feb 2018 09:53:20 am
The University of the South Pacific (USP) deposited additional Instruments of Ratification for the USP Convention by two of its member countries - Cook Islands and Nauru - at the Fiji Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Suva. Commonwealth countries need to provide determined leadership, build consensus and inclusion, create strong partnerships, and fully leverage ICTs and new learning tools to develop education for sustainable development and resilience. The involvement of young people in policy development, monitoring and implementation were of critical importance. Education for sustainability needs to be led and owned by the countries, and embedded thoroughly into the national visions of development of countries and owned by all the stakeholders. USP Cook Islands completes Maori Language Flexi-school - 21 Feb 2018 02:37:16 pm
The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Cook Islands campus recently completed the first full Cook Islands Māori language flexi-school taught by Dr. Akevai Nicholas from the Auckland University of Technology. The January flexi-school was the second of 12 courses students have been taking, as part of the new Diploma in Cook Islands Māori. Forty-two (42) unemployed youths from Lautoka went through an eight (8) week Office Assistance Training programme at The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Lautoka Campus to equip them for new job markets. The training concluded on 19 January 2018. The Youth Employment Network (YEN) training programme was a result of the partnership between the Lautoka Campus, Foundation for Rural Integrated Enterprise and Development (FRIEND) and the participants were fully funded by OXFAM Fiji. The new Australian High Commissioner, His Excellency Mr John Feakes, paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor and President of The University of the South Pacific (USP), Professor Rajesh Chandra on 14 February 2018.
