An Engineering project of The University of the South Pacific (USP) has been shortlisted as one of the top twenty (20) projects in the world in 2016 as part of the All Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Young Engineers’ Humanitarian (AIYEHUM) Challenge.
The project, Eye Braille Slate was developed by engineering students, Nikhil Singh and Vinaal Prakash under the supervision of Dr Utkal Mehta, Senior Lecturer at USP’s School of Engineering and Physics (SEP).

Speaker of the Cook Islands Parliament, Honourable Niki Rattle, enthralled a large audience as guest speaker to mark International Women’s Day at an event organised by The University of the South Pacific (USP) Cook Islands Campus initiative known as USP PLUS on 8 March 2017.

An inaugural ‘Meet and Greet’ session for staff and students of The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) School of Education (SOED) was held at the Laucala Campus in Suva on the 15th of March 2017.

The President of the Republic of Palau, His Excellency Tommy E. Remengesau, Jr, paid a courtesy visit to Professor Rajesh Chandra, Vice-Chancellor and President of USP at the Laucala Campus in Suva on 14 March 2017.

A total of two hundred and thirty-four (234) Australia Awards Pacific Scholarships (AAPS) students are enrolled at The University of the South Pacific (USP) this semester.
This was confirmed by the Development Manager, Mr Iresh Lal during the AAPS students welcome meeting at USP’s Laucala Campus on 9 March 2017. Out of the total, twenty-two (22) students are based at USP’s Emalus Campus, while the rest are at the Laucala Campus.

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Research Office (RO) hosted an evening for its scholars at the Australia-Pacific Performance Space at the Laucala Campus on 9 March, 2017.
It was an opportunity for students to meet and greet each other and interact with their Associate Deans and staff of the Research Office, which sponsors twenty per cent (20%) of Masters and PhD students every year.
This semester, the RO is sponsoring a total of seventy-two (72) students, forty-two (42) of whom are undertaking Masters by Research and thirty (30) PhD.

Vanuatu student carves tamtam for USP - 10 Mar 2017 12:03:25 pm
A Vanuatu student from The University of the South Pacific (USP) is currently carving a wooden tamtam to be displayed in front of the Research Office at the Laucala Campus.
George Koran originally from North Ambrym, Vanuatu said he passed by the Research Office one day and noticed the wear and tear on the current one standing outside.
He then approached Mr Henry Bill, Deputy Chair USP Student Association (USPSA) Federal and offered to carve a new one. Mr Bill then met with Professor Jito Vanualailai, USP Director Research and this is how the initial agreement came into place.... More »
Teachers achieve excellent results after USP studies - 10 Mar 2017 09:53:28 am
Teachers currently pursuing their studies at The University of the South Pacific (USP) particularly those who are teaching English and Geography, achieved ninety to hundred per cent (90-100%) pass rates in their respective teaching subject areas during the 2016 external exams.
The observation was made recently following an enrolment and marketing drive in Taveuni and remote Savusavu on Fiji’s second largest island of Vanua Levu, by staff of USP’s Labasa Campus led by Dr Rosiana Lagi, from the 25-30 January 2017.
