The University of the South Pacific (USP) rewarded its best-performing academic staff and students for their high quality research outputs in 2015 at a special Research Awards Evening on Friday 11 November 2016. Hindi Studies programme at The University of the South Pacific (USP) was boosted after a donation of F$79,560 was handed over to Professor Rajesh Chandra, Vice-Chancellor and President of USP by the Indian High Commissioner, His Excellency Vishvas Sapkal on 9 November 2016 as part of the celebrations to commemorate 100 years of Girmit at USP’s Japan-Pacific ICT Multipurpose Theatre. The Hindi Studies programme had faced some financial issues in the recent years and as part of its revival plans; Professor Chandra had sought assistance from the Indian Government through the Indian High Commission in Fiji. ... A project supported by The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Pacific Centre for Environment and Sustainable Development (PaCE-SD) saw the recent construction of a climate-proof health clinic in Buariki village, North Tarawa, Kiribati. Kiribati is one of the island countries under the Coastal-Community Adaptation Project (C-CAP), along with Fiji, Solomon Islands, Nauru, Papua New Guinea (PNG), Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu. The 83rd Council meeting of The University of the South Pacific (USP) successfully concluded at the Holiday Inn in Suva on 4 November 2016. The University of the South Pacific (USP) is putting emphasis on accreditation, placing students at the centre of its operations and making good progress with its regional campus developments, said Professor Rajesh Chandra, Vice-Chancellor and President of USP. The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Pacific Technical and Further Education (Pacific TAFE) has been declared a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) with Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) to deliver qualifications accredited within Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
