The University of the South Pacific has become an institutional member of the Oracle Academy. The Oracle Academy provides a complete portfolio of software, curriculum, hosted technology, faculty training, support, and certification resources to vocational and higher education institutions for teaching use. The Faculty of Science, Technology and Environment (FSTE) can flexibly insert these resources into computer science and business programmes, ensuring that students gain industry-relevant skills prior to entering the workforce. Upskilling for Fisheries Officers - 1 Mar 2017 10:48:19 am
Students undertaking Certificate IV in Fisheries Enforcement and Compliance through The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Pacific Technical and Further Education (Pacific TAFE) underwent a week-long competency based assessment from 13-17 February 2017 at USP’s Laucala Campus in Suva. The assessment was the culmination of nine (9) months of training that fifteen (15) students undertook as part of their programme. The first meeting of the Council of Regional Organisations of the Pacific (CROP) Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Working Group (WG) for 2017 was held at The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Laucala Campus on 20 February 2017. The CROP ICT WG is responsible for coordinating the different tasks undertaken by various players in the key areas in ICT. The Director of the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organisation’s (UNESCO) Office for the Pacific States, Ms Nisha paid a courtesy visit to The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Laucala Campus on 20 February 2017 to discuss the future of Pacific Heritage Hub at USP. The Pacific Heritage Hub is a UNESCO World Heritage Facility by and for Pacific States Parties, hosted by USP at its Laucala Campus. USP, now a Registered Tuition Provider for CPA Australia - 17 Feb 2017 10:27:02 am
The University of the South Pacific (USP) has now become a Registered Tuition Provider for Certified Practising Accountants (CPA) Australia. This, following its application to become a provider for the CPA Programme, which was reviewed by CPA Australia’s Tuition Provider Panel. USP supports One Billion Rising 2017 event - 16 Feb 2017 09:51:49 am
One Billion Rising Pacific in collaboration with The University of the South Pacific’s Faculty of Arts, Law and Education organised the One Billion Rising Pacific 2017 event at the Laucala Campus in Suva.  The 2017 campaign, which focused on RISE! DISRUPT! CONNECT!, as its theme saw women and girls sharing their stories, raising awareness on issues they are affected by and highlighting social issues with the audience by means of poetry and spoken words. The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) School of Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM) recently participated in the Warwick Community Youth “Make It Count” Expo. The inaugural expo which was organised by Warwick Hotels and Resorts invited representatives from Tertiary, Technical and Trade Schools and Colleges to meet with youths and parents from Fiji’s Coral Coast region. A delegation from Japan’s Toyo University visited The University of the South Pacific (USP) on 14 February 2017, to discuss possible collaborations and scholarship opportunities for USP students. Toyo University, which was founded in 1887, is a private university located in Tokyo City, with 11 faculties, 44 departments and around 30,000 students.
