The Pacific-Europe Network for Science, Technology and Innovation (PACE-Net Plus) bi-regional dialogue platform will be held at the Tanoa International Hotel in Nadi from 30 June to 1 July 2016. The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Rajesh Chandra and the Tuvaluan Minister for Health, Honourable Satini Tulaga Manuella had a successful meeting at the Laucala campus on 28 June 2016. The meeting also included the Director Pacific Technical and Further Education (Pacific TAFE), Mr Hasmukh Lal and Director Pacific Islands Centre for Public Administration (PICPA), Mr Parmesh Chand. The University of the South Pacific Staff Football Club (USPSFC) team added another milestone achievement to its ranks when it defeated the USP Labasa Campus team by 2-1 in a friendly fixture at the Gurunanak Khalsa College Grounds in Labasa on 18 June 2016. This was the club’s first ever tour to the Northern Division and the team played their hearts out representing the USP Laucala Community. The University of the South Pacific (USP) has won the Divisional Award and National Award for the Highest Blood Collection at a Tertiary Institution for the seventh consecutive year. In addition to this, USP won the overall award for the Highest Collection by an organisation in Fiji during the World Blood Day celebrations in Suva on 18 June 2016. An Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for Better Education project headed by The University of the South Pacific (USP) achieved a milestone in the Solomon Islands with the hand-over of five Tablet Learning Kits to the Solomon Islands Ministry of Education on 2 June 2016. The University of the South Pacific (USP) has commended the Fijian Government and the Minister for Finance Honourable Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum for a good and strong 2016- 2017 National Budget following its announcement on 22 June 2016. An active three-day discussion began on 20 June 2016 with around 50 dynamic Pacific researchers and stakeholders converging at The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Laucala Campus to advance gender research capacity-building agenda among Pacific Island Countries.
