USP graduates record number of students - 19 Sep 2019 04:16:39 pm
A total of 1140 students from The University of the South Pacific (USP) graduated in a ceremony at the FMF Gymnasium in Laucala Bay, Suva on 19 September 2019. These included 258 students from the Faculty of Arts, Law & Education (FALE); 202 from the Faculty of Science, Technology & Environment (FSTE) and 680 from the Pacific Technical & Further Education. The remaining 595 students will graduate from the Faculty of Business & Economics (FBE) in another ceremony on 20 September, bringing the total number of graduates to 1735 in this year’s second graduation ceremony. ... Her Excellency Hilda C. Heine, the President of the Republic of Marshall Islands was installed as the 26th Chancellor of The University of the South Pacific (USP) at the second graduation ceremony of the year on 19 September 2019 at the FMF Gymnasium. The installation was done by Mr Winston Thompson, Pro-Chancellor and Chair of USP Council. In his remarks, Mr Thompson said this graduation ceremony was a special one because of the installation of the University’s 26th Chancellor, H.E Hilda C. The 26th Chancellor of The University of the South Pacific (USP) is the President of Marshall Islands Her Excellency Hilda C. Heine who has been appointed to serve in the role from 1 July 2019 for a term of one year.   H.E Heine will be formally installed during USP’s Laucala graduation ceremony on 19 September, 2019. H.E Heine will be the first female Chancellor for the University. The Chancellor is the titular head of USP, who confers the qualifications of the University.   ... More »

Twenty-seven (27) course coordinators and teaching assistants from The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Faculty of Business and Economics (FBE) learnt to recognise the value of establishing and maintaining online presence to enhance student engagement in their courses. This was following a second Effective Teaching workshop series titled, “Is anyone out there? Establishing and Maintaining Online Presence in Your Course,” on August 28-30, facilitated by three Centre for Flexible Learning (CFL) specialists, each with a guest presenter. 68 teachers in inaugural PacTAFE Language course - 13 Sep 2019 08:04:56 am
The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Malampa Sub-Centre hosted the inaugural Pacific Technical and Further Education (PacTAFE) cohort in Certificate III in Early Childhood and Care outside of Port Vila.  The Language course is a prerequisite for entry into the Early Childhood programme proper, a five-course programme, which had its first cohort in Port Vila in 2018.    A total of 68 teachers attended the three week course, 34 of whom were Francophone Kindy teachers.  The participants came from North, Central and Southeast of Malekula Island.... The University of the South Pacific (USP) has joined hands with UNSW Institute for Global development, School of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering and the Australian Renewable Energy (RE) agency (Mission Innovation Challenge 2)  for a collaborative project that looks at developing solutions for expanding sustainable energy access in the PICs  through interactions with stakeholders.
