For the first time, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) will be hosting the 7th Symposium on Sensorless Control for Electrical Drives (SLED) in Fiji from 5 to 6 June 2016. Confucius Institute, ‘a bridge of friendship’ - 3 Jun 2016 09:39:16 am
The establishment of the Confucius Institute (CI) at The University of the South Pacific (USP) is a bridge of understanding and friendship linking China and South Pacific island countries. These were the words of the Chinese Ambassador to Fiji, His Excellency Zhang Ping while speaking on the Chinese Foreign Policy and China-Fiji Relationship at the Australia-Pacific lecture theatre at USP’s Laucala campus on 31st May 2016, on the invitation of the CI. USP signs MOU with Tokyo City University - 3 Jun 2016 09:35:56 am
The University of the South Pacific (USP) and Tokyo City University (TCU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 2 June 2016, to establish programmes of exchange and collaboration to benefit both universities for a term of five years. Under this MOU, both universities agreed to exchange faculty and research staff, establish programmes that will enable students and staff to pursue either short-term or extended programmes of study in each of the universities, and provide awareness on the academic programmes, research institutes, and educational resources of both universities. ... An intensive week-long workshop on e-learning pedagogies and materials development using Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and Open Educational Resources (OERs) was conducted at The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Teachers Educational Resource and E-learning Centre (TEREC) in Laucala from 23-27 May 2016. The China National Traditional Orchestra (CNTO) put on a superb joint performance with Pasifika Voices and Oceania Dance Theatre at the Australia-Pacific Performance Space at The University of the South Pacific (USP) on 26 May 2016. Friends and families of The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Oceania Dance Academy gathered to witness a dance recital put on by children on 14 May 2016, at the Oceania Centre for Arts, Culture and Pacific Studies (OCACPS) in USP’s Laucala Campus. The dance recital saw energetic youngsters moving excitedly to the beat and a large number of family members witnessed the performances which included hip-hop, basic ballet and Pacific contemporary. Thirty-three students of the 236 sponsored by the Australian Government’s Australia Award Pacific Scholarships (AAPS) will be completing their studies this semester at The University of the South Pacific (USP). USP begins semester two enrolment - 31 May 2016 10:54:05 am
The University of the South Pacific (USP) has started enrolling students for semester two as classes begin on 11 July 2016. In semester one of this year, a total of 25,025 students were registered across all campuses at USP’s 12 member countries. The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Pacific Technical and Further Education (Pacific TAFE) opened its Workforce Development Training Unit in Walu Bay, Suva on 27 May 2016.
