Buddy Award recipient looks forward to new experience - 9 Oct 2018 09:20:25 am
A student doing a Graduate Certificate in Education at The University of the South Pacific (USP) was awarded the Westpac Buddy of the Year 2018 on 28 September at the Laucala Campus in Suva.
Mr Shavnil Singh, who is also doing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography, Language & Literature will soon travel to an Australian University in semester 1 2019, to get an international student experience and meet with relevant bodies in the university.
All expenses up to $5,000 are sponsored by Westpac. Last year’s Award recipient went on a learning visit to Macquarie University.... More »
Griffith students on study tour at USP Emalus Campus - 4 Oct 2018 01:52:55 pm
A team of fifteen (15) communication and journalism students and four (4) staff are attending a two-week-long mobility project from 28 September 2018 at The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Emalus Campus in Vanuatu.
This is part of the University’s Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Griffith University (GU), which is being funded under the New Colombo Plan, to learn from local communities and experts on how best to report climate change in the Pacific.

A total of ninety-four (94) students from The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) School of Tourism and Hospitality (STHM) had an opportunity to interact directly with industry representatives during the Careers Fair held at The Westin Denarau on 28 September 2018.
This year the event was sponsored by the Marriot Group (Sheraton Fiji and The Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa, Fiji) and other Denarau properties such as Radisson Blu Fiji Resort, Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific Pty Ltd and Sofitel Fiji resort and Spa. USP RMI Campus holds successful graduation - 4 Oct 2018 11:58:46 am
A total of forty three (43) students graduated from The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Republic of Marshall Islands (RMI) Campus on 2 October 2018.
Out of the total, seventeen (17) students graduated from Pacific Technical and Further Education (Pacific TAFE), nine (9) students graduated with Undergraduate programme, one with Postgraduate Certificate, six (6) with Postgraduate Diploma and ten (10) students graduated with Masters programmes. Fifty four per cent (54%) of those who graduated were females.

Double Graduation for USP’s Solomon Islands Campus - 3 Oct 2018 10:12:09 am
For the first time, The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Solomon Islands (SI) Campus held two (2) graduation ceremonies at Auki and Honiara Campuses, where a total of 1211 students graduated with certificates, diplomas and degrees. The awards were given by Mr Winston Thompson, Pro-Chancellor and Chair of Council.
For the ceremony in Auki on 25 September, around one hundred and seventy six (176) students graduated from a special programme on Graduate Certificate in School Leadership. This is a special in-country project in Solomon Islands for over three (3) years.

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) School of Education (SOEd) hosted a postgraduate symposium for its students based at Suva, Fiji, on from 28 September - 1 October, 2018.
Professor Govinda Lingam, Head of the SOEd addressed thesis candidates on the importance of driving their own learning and that supervisors should only act as a guide to them.
He emphasised the need to seek advice from others, read a lot, and take writing their thesis very seriously.

The University of the South Pacific (USP) is pleased with the support of the United Kingdom Government on the Pacific’s maritime challenges.
Positive sentiments were expressed by Professor Derrick Armstrong, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research & International, at a morning tea hosted by the British High Commissioner, Her Excellency Melanie Hopkins at her residence in Suva, on 28 September 2018.

Pacific Island citizens will benefit from improved livelihoods and opportunities through skills development thanks to a partnership signed between The University of the South Pacific (USP) and the Australian Government supported Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC) at the USP Laucala Campus on Friday 21 September 2018.
The partnership marks the first in a new approach APTC is taking to its engagement with TVET institutions and other partners across the region. A total of ninety-five (95) students from Funafuti Primary School were awarded with certificates for completing a two-weeklong Literacy programme at The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Tuvalu Campus on 31 August 2018.
Dr. Rosiana Lagi, USP Tuvalu Campus Director, initiated the programme, which was an outcome of a research, carried out by Certificate in Teaching students at the Tuvalu Campus.
