Fiji Government commends Wildlife book by USP researchers - 14 Jun 2019 10:48:15 am
A book entitled “Colo-i-Suva Forest Park Wildlife” compiled by a team of researchers from The University of the South Pacific (USP) was launched by Honourable Osea Naiqamu, Minister of Forests at the Fiji Museum last week.
The book contains records of the presence of several unique plants and animals in the world which can be found at the Colo-i-Suva Forest Park.

The Hospitality and Tourism industry will benefit from the recent partnership signing between The University of the South Pacific’s (USP), Pacific Technical and Further Education (Pacific TAFE), and Pullman Nadi Bay Resort and Spa Fiji in Nadi on 7 June 2019.

As part of the Science Circus Pacific (SCP), a Talanoa session was held at The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Laucala Campus between the University, Australian National University (ANU) and Graduate Women Fiji (GWF) on 13 June 2019.
SCP aims to build capacity in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) education and communication in the Pacific. It is a new partnership between USP, ANU, GWF and other Pacific organisations, with support from the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade (DFAT).

“Understanding Oceania”: Celebrating The University of the South Pacific (USP) and its Collaboration with the Australian National University (ANU) was launched at USP’s Laucala Campus on 12 June 2019.
Co-editored by Professor Vijay Naidu, Professor in Development Studies at USP’s School of Government, Development and International Affairs (SGDIA) and Professor Stewart Firth from the Australian National University, the book celebrates the collaboration of USP and ANU in research, doctoral training, teaching and joint activities.

A Sexual Harassment and Bullying Awareness workshop was conducted by The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee (DEIC) at the Lautoka Campus on Wednesday, 29 May 2019 and at the Labasa Campus on Friday 31 May 2019.
The workshop, which was attended by all support and academic staff at the respective campuses, was facilitated by Dr. Akanisi Kedrayate, the Chair of the DEIC and Ms. Charlotte Taylor, Chair of Gender Working Group.

Two USP staff are among a group of international recipients of the prestigious Study of the U.S Institute for Scholars (SUSI) fellowship this year.
USP Journalism Programme coordinator Dr Shailendra Singh and USP counsellor Saimone Tuni will participate in separate six-week fellowships in the United States, from June to July 2019.

His Excellency Mr Wahidullah Waissi, Ambassador of Afghanistan to Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, paid a courtesy visit to The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Laucala Campus on 4 June 2019.
Professor Pal Ahluwalia, Vice-Chancellor and President of USP extended a warm welcome to H.E Waissi, who reciprocated the kind gesture.

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Pal Ahluwalia has been awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the University of California (UC), Riverside for his distinguished contribution to the promotion of Sikh Studies in the Diaspora.
Professor Pal received the Dr. Jasbir Singh Saini Endowed Chair in Sikh and Punjabi Studies award during the 6th Sikh Studies Conference held at the University of California, Riverside on 3 May 2019.

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Niue Campus is excited to welcome its inaugural Master of Business Administration (MBA) Niue cohort.
Following orientation on 13 May 2019, MBA 423 (Human Resource Management) and MBA 435 (Organisational Behaviour) have been going on well with Dr. Sunia Vosikata from the Laucala Campus.

Around 30 students from The University of the South Pacific (USP), Pacific Technical and Further Education (Pacific TAFE), Nadi Hospitality Tourism and Training Centre (NHTTC) received certificates of participation for providing hospitality and etiquette services during the Asian Development Bank meeting on 1-5 May 2019 in Nadi.
